During my stay at Sheffield Hallam University, as a project for one of the subjects, we had to recreate a character from an old video game or one whose model was outdated, giving it a more modern look. We also had to make it playable, which meant creating a series of animations and implementing them in Unreal.
In my case I chose Cairne Bloodhoof, High Chieftain of the Tauren in the Warcraft universe. He can be found both in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and its subsequent remastering, as well as in World of Warcraft. To develop it, I based its design on its appearance in these games, as well as some official concept arts of the character. My goal was to give him a look more like his son's (Baine Bloodhoof) model in World of Warcraft today.
Thanks to this project I could improve a little bit with the handpainted textures, as well as practice almost with the complete development of a character. The video at the end shows a couple of tests that we had to do in Unreal, first we had to create an intro animation for the character and then show that it was playable.
